The TarotScopes this month feature the cards from a newly released deck from U.S. Games Systems called The Sacred Art Tarot which will be reviewed in the next editon of Tarot Reflections.  Copyright (c) 2008,

Aries

Aries
magnify
Wheel of Fortune (3 of Swords) A twist of fate lands you face to face with an uncomfortable reality; be prepared to make some changes to your plans. Complicated as your situation may seem, try not to stray too far from the original goal. This disruption can actually pave the road for new opportunities. Refrain from pessimistic thinking and be careful what you wish for! The full moon on the 15th will illuminate what needs to utilized, and what needs to be set aside. Be wise about where you place your energy – once this ball gets rolling, there is no stopping it.

Taurus

Taurus
magnify
Hanged Man (Ace of Swords) You have reached an impasse that strategizing cannot affect. To a large extent, it is your current point of view that has immobilized you to this degree. Your expectations could be too rigid, or beyond the scope of your present capabilities. Use this pause in time to reflect on your intentions, then develop a plan of action that supports them. After the 17th, you will feel more at ease with your plans, so be prepared to sacrifice your stance if you want to make things happen. Avoid dealing with underhanded people.

Gemini

Gemini
magnify
Temperance (2 of Pentacles) Adaptability may be your forte, but this month it could also be your downfall. You’ve got too many balls in the air right now, and are likely to run out of energy; a redistribution of priorities is necessary. Be honest about what matters most to you, and why. All your obligations are stifling the fun and could be the cause to your inter-relational problems. Find a middle ground to reestablish your personal and professional affairs. The weekend of the 19th is a great time to take a gamble with someone or something.

Cancer

Cancer
magnify
Justice (Knight of Pentacles) A quandary arises this month that causes you to reconsider how you interpret right and wrong. More apt to condemn someone else’s behavior and excuse your own – you’re looking for trouble. Take responsibility for your circumstances and look at how you play a part in their cause. Professing morals can be an excuse to not accept responsibility. A financially draining commitment may need to be reviewed. Let go of stubborn feelings of obligation and do what’s right to you. Though it may come through conflict, the 22nd will offer you the freedom you desire.

Leo

Leo
magnify
Fool (3 of Wands) Before signing your power away, check the contract thoroughly, both literally and metaphorically. Smooth talkers come in every form, even as your own inner voice. You will be presented with an opportunity that’s “too good to be true.” The problem is, it may not be. An urge to leap into unknown territories will have severe consequences at this time. It would be better to channel that energy into pursuing a new interest or hobby. This restless feeling should diminish by the end of the month, so hang in there and hang on to your money.

Virgo

Virgo
magnify
Star (Ace of Pentacles) Faith is often misunderstood as blind trust in some unseen, omnipotent force. Wishful thinking motivated by longing or worry is complacence at best. Having confidence in yourself and an understanding of how to apply your energy is faith that is founded upon self-assurance. Keep your intention focused this month and you will be amazed at what you manifest. No time for passivity, you must channel this power in a deliberate fashion. The last weekend of the month is an intense one; doubts may creep closer to the surface, but you have the power to put them to rest.

Libra

Libra
magnify
Lovers (10 of Cups) An emotional situation has you rethinking your options. Your current path presents a fork in the road at which you must choose one thing and lose another. However, the decision is not as important as the motivation behind it; your values are put on display when you chose one thing over another, just like your relationships mirror you. The beginning of the month contains seeds of temptation. Take time deciding what you want to grow, if anything, from them. Also, keep in mind that your choices affect those closest to you.

Scorpio

Scorpio
magnify
Empress (King of Cups) The quality of your relationships is in question this month; you need to examine which are based on mutual respect and emotional generosity, and which are rooted in codependency and fear. To love someone is to trust and accept them while honoring your own needs as well. Your giving ways are becoming a little controlling; there are hidden expectations thwarting your true expression. You may need to stop playing the counselor or mother in order to relate authentically. The first week of the month is a great time to open up about your feelings with that special someone.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius
magnify
Magician (Ace of Wands) Seize the day! Or in this case – the month! You are in an advantageous place to make mountains move; no time for hesitation though. A project started around the Spring Equinox has harvested a crop of plenty and you are in the position to capitalize on this. The 7th is a promising day for opportunity; however, you must be proactive in making things happen. Pay attention to synchronicity of events, do not be afraid to push your own agenda, and let your natural charisma do the talking. Just be sure to watch your step.

Capricorn

Capricorn
magnify
High Priestess (Ace of Cups) There is a great deal of internal activity that will confuse and fascinate you. Even more strangely, people will respond to you very differently this month. You will find it challenging to get your point across if you do so from a logical stance; it will be much easier to appeal to their emotions. Do not be alarmed by the shifts in your mood; this is an emotional period with a rhythm of its own. The week of the 8th is a mysterious time – trust your intuition over your mind.

Aquarius

Aquarius
magnify
Devil (Page of Wands) “Oh the tangled webs we weave when at first we learn to deceive.” An innocent curiosity has gotten you into some deep water – can you handle it? You’re in a precarious place this month, and it would be wise to be honest with yourself. Something or someone you are attached to is no longer a positive influence, and, although you think you are in control, an addiction is developing. The deeper you go, the darker it will become, and the harder it will be to find the truth. Skeletons may fall out of your closet around the 12th.

Pisces

Pisces
magnify
Emperor (7 of Wands) Power struggles are a natural part of life and are designed to teach you about your own capabilities. You will come up against a formidable opponent this month. The problem is, it’s invisible. Like a warrior who fights for a cause, it is your duty to defend the honor of your convictions. If you assert yourself for the sake of power, you will lose; you must approach this challenge with personal integrity and directness. The strength of yo

Temperance
Temperance denotes balance and harmony. The forces behind Temperance are those that keep us from succumbing to temptation or over-indulgence; steer us away from developing unhealthy addictions or behaviors. The Temperate Spirit avoids extremes, spreads harmony and brings opposing sides together. They find a happy, healthy median between what they want and what they need. Temperance provides an environment in which most will thrive, and a haven where the injured may heal, reenergize. Through Temperance success and contentment are found by practicing self-restraint, and using balance to create your own "shelter from the storm.".

Ancient Egyptian Tarot

Day 5

Picture

Princess of Wands

This is a card of great enthusiasm and ambition.

You may be considering trying something new which is exciting but challenging at the same time. The Princess of Wands is assuring you that if you do have some plans or ideas - even if they are only half-formed in your own head at the moment - then they are worth following through as they could have great implications for your future.

There is a possibility that at times, you may think that this new course of action is too "big" for you and become discouraged at the first sign of difficulty.

Keep focused, do not allow yourself to become distracted, maintain your enthusiasm and the success you are working towards will be yours.

Day 6

Picture

Four of Cups

This card often symbolizes a sense of dissatisfaction or boredom, and usually turns up when there is a general desire for something more exciting - the pursuit of which may put at risk an existing relationship or friendship.

It may be that you are on the point of making or breaking an emotional commitment, or are feeling swamped by another's emotions.

If so, this card recommends sharing your feelings with the person involved.  This isn't giving them power over you, but rather a chance to work through the issues together.

Remember, all relationships involve a fair amount of risk and can sometimes leave you feeling as though you are losing your own identity.  It's all a case of compromise and good old-fashioned give and take!

Day 7

Picture

The High Priestess

This is the card of the inner world and applies equally to men and women.

The High Priestess is the "real" you - not you as loyal partner, supportive friend, good parent, son, daughter etc - and the power of the High Priestess lies in his or her acceptance that, much as you love other people and crave approval, you can be happy in your own company.

When this card turns up, it is usually a reminder of your own priorities. It is time to start thinking about what makes you, not other people, happy.  Try to make sure you spend some time every day to be by yourself, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Doing this, you are giving yourself the opportunity to open up to hidden knowledge, and insights into problems or quandaries could be revealed.  You may also find your psychic and intuitive powers increasing as a result.

Day 8

Picture

Thursday 19th January 2012

The Moon

The Moon indicates a period of introspection and quiet, reflective thought, along with the possibility of psychic powers developing.

The world of dreams and imagination might seem more real to you right now than what is going on around you.  This is because your inner self is trying to get your attention!  There is something that matters to you, some path you feel you are being guided to follow but are perhaps afraid that others won't understand if you do pursue it.

Give yourself time to dream and meditate and continue to ask for guidance.  The way forward will be revealed to you in perfect time, and you will find yourself back in the "real" world and on track with a new understanding and serenity.

Day 9

Picture

Six of Swords

If you have been going through a period of unrest or uncertainty, this card assures you that calmer times are ahead...as long as you leave behind any bitterness or regrets.

Sometimes, the Six of Swords is interpreted as indicating travel, although it might not necessarily be a physical journey, it might mean taking steps to move away from any conflict or lingering regrets or doubts.

Above all, this card is advising you to stop worrying over old troubles, or fighting a losing battle, and instead, move forward.

Your own peace of mind is the most important thing,, and this might mean accepting that some injustices cannot be put right - so release the anger, resentment and disappointment surrounding them, and move on.

Ancient Egyptian Tarot

Day 1

Picture

Temperance

This is the card of harmony, balance and compromise.

Temperance is all about your own peace of mind and this is usually best achieved by avoiding confrontation and redressing any imbalance or stress in one area of your life, by taking positive steps in another.

Of course, sometimes it is necessary to take a stand and Temperance is certainly not advocating that you keep the peace at all costs - sometimes a short-term truce can have a very high price.

This is really just a gentle reminder that you cannot be responsible for the happiness or success of others, not should you feel guilty because you cannot fulfill their dreams...no matter how much you love them.

Try not to lose too much sleep over what might happen - concentrate on your own harmony and peace of mind and let others be responsible for theirs.  Get involved only in vital issues.

Day 2

Picture

Two of Disks

You may be feeling like you are trying to juggle too many balls in the air at once and that there are too many demands on your time and energy.

It's difficult to find the balance between work commitments, family commitments and what we want to do for ourselves and when this card turns up, it indicates that the practical issues need to be sorted out otherwise you will just end up feeling frazzled and resentful.

If you do feel to be under a lot of pressure, the Two of Disks recommends tackling the most urgent tasks first and doing them to the best of your ability without fretting about the other things you are not doing.  If others are shouting for your attention, consider delegating and if that's not feasible, simply explain that you can only do one thing well at a time, and that you want to avoid doing a poor job through trying to do everything and stretching yourself and your resources too thinly.

It's important to keep a practical, down to earth attitude here in order to get through everything, rather than letting emotions run away with you.

Day 3

Picture

Three of Wands

he Three of Wands often indicates that a plan has been set out, or a step forward taken towards independence or personal fulfillment.  Your future is very open and it is important now to take time to plan your next leap forward.

This card represents the widening of horizons, the formulating of definite plans and promises that a period of waiting or stagnation will soon be over.

If you feel that things are not moving along quite as quickly as you had hoped, or that you have not progressed as far as you had first planned, take a look back at how far you have travelled, either spiritually or in making your dreams come true.

And now give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back.  You may not have achieved as much as you set out to have achieved by this point, but you have achieved something and you are, in fact, doing better than you think you are.

Day 4

Picture

The Wheel of Fortune

The Wheel of Fortune doesn't really predict good or bad fortune will strike, it is more about finding the best solution in the face of unexpected change.

When something happens out of the blue, it can make you feel like life is suddenly out of your control - even "good" things, for instance, a lottery win can throw you completely off balance.

The important thing is how you respond - whether you react aggressively or irresponsibly, pretend it isn't happening or actually face it and deal with it - you can maximize or minimize the consequences.  You might not feel like you have any control over the events occurring, but you do have control over your own reaction to them.

The Wheel of Fortune is a handy reminder that the best thing to do is to go with the ebb and flow of life.  Remember nothing lasts forever, life is in a constant state of flux, so it is important to make the most of every cycle of "good" fortune while it lasts, and to learn the lessons of the "bad" cycles with grace and gratitude, safe in the knowledge that the Wheel of Fortune is constantly turning.
